In 1996 a proposal was evolved, with input from the Parish Council for a mixed development, including a Marina, Chandlery, Village Hall, and Nursing Home. The proposal was submitted, but not included, in the W.Wilts Local Plan of 2002. No formal planning application was made. Details here >>
In 2016 an application for housing development was made by Richborough Estates, which was rejected after an Inquiry.
In 2019 an application which had been made by villagers to register the land as a Village Green was successfully rejected. The field is currently farmed for the owners by a contractor.
The plan that Richborough applied for is shown below and includes the c.3 acre field at the North-East corner. The plan was considered too large for the village and this field (which is in seperate family ownership) is not being offered at this time.
